I have a very early PUG that is near and dear to my heart. 100% reliable and built like a swiss watch. For years now I have wanted to send it in for a 22LR conversion cylinder, but that is no easy task for those of us that live in the peoples republic of New York. The cost of shipping and FFL fees are nearly as costly as just buying another standard mini conversion. From time to time I would search ebay for a spare cylinder, but they generally sell for outrageous prices.

I just recently became aware that Numrich Arms sells conversion cylinders for the mini for either $57 or $63, depending on whether you want fluted or non-fluted. I realize that NAA advises that the cylinders need to be fitted, however I have read numerous threads on various forums that alleged that, at least for recently manufactured minis, the cylinders drop right in and usually work.

I am writing to report that I purchased a non-fluted cylinder from Numrich, and that it works flawlessly with no hand fitting necessary. Of course one needs to throughly verify that the cylinder is timed properly before attempting to fire the gun. I did so by eye using dummy rounds, and then confirmed function using Colibri primer only rounds to ensure the mini was not shaving any lead and fired safely.

Of course if you choose to buy a cylinder from somewhere other than NAA and utilize it in your mini, you need to understand that you do so at your own risk. I am just writing to report that it worked out for me. Your mileage may vary.

I also want to add that I recently put on a set of CVang grips and they are phenomenal. The mini draws with no need to readjust your grip, and the XS sights on the PUG are fully usable now. Next time I'm at the range I want to see if I can hit the 10 ring at 25 yards! If you are considering a set of CVangs (as I had been for the better part of a year) just get them. You won't be disappointed!

I bought a couple of conversion cylinders from Numrich Arms and they worked just fine.
I thought at that price it would be worth a gamble.
I won on that one.

I know most folks would love the Cvang grips if they just would give them a try.
I know I am sold on them.
All the minis I carry and a lot of those I don't carry, wear Cvangs.
They make a mini handle like a different gun.
Rock solid and quick return to target.

PVQ - thanks for the info. I agree that sending a gun back to the factory is no fun. I scoured Gunbroker for a conversion cylinder for my Pug and did eventually find one and it does work okay. Glad to learn that there is another option.
