But it came off a .22 mag convertible made about 15 years ago.   I was wantin to use it in the Pug I'm getting, but I'm not sure if it would work, or be safe.  Would I be better off sending my gun to Utah and getting a cylinder installed and sent back?  And how much does that cost exactly?

EDIT: Ok, i get having to verify you're human to post, but to edit?  This is getting ridiculous,

Also, is there any way for me to test that it is in time?

You can have a local gunsmith check it to verify it is timed properly to your mini, and it locks up properly.

To have a cylinder made/fitted by the factory, the cost is $50.00 for the cylinder, $10 to ship it back, plus your cost to ship the gun to them. You can ship it to the factory, but you have to use UPS or FEDEX, your choice. An FFL holder can use the US Postal service, which will cost him about $8 or $9. UPS/FEDEX will only ship a gun overnight, which is very expensive, and, by Fed law, you have to tell them you are shipping a firearm.
Guns are a lot like parachutes:

"If you need one and don't have one, you'll probably never need one again"

E-Stop

I recently sent one of my NAA's back for rework.  I paid $84.00 to ship FedEx overnight and paid NAA $25.00 for the return postage.  Yes, that's a lot. But I got over it in about 10 seconds as I considered how nice the improvements will be to my gun.  It was worth it.  I was invoiced for $0.00 for making my gun good-as-new with a lot of new components I wasn't expecting.

I'm bad I've been known to send as cheap as possible by sneaking them thru the USPS service . Never a problem even insured them under collectible . Never send with ammo of course and have them signed for on delivery . I refuse to be raped and scammed with these other carriers and I've used them over the years but found the packages ,crushed , ripped , torn somewhat opened but never with good old USPS . $6.00 box gets it anywhere and free return from NAA , how better does it get . Ask your USPS agent for details .
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

I've never heard about this only overnight rule.  I've gotten most of my guns thru fedex ground.

Don't forget the hat ,fake mustache and the horn rimmed glasses if you walk in and ask then walk out and back in again moments later to ship . If that's what you had in mind heck "GO FOR IT" , let us know how it goes . Maybe a phone call would do first but to each their own .

I am shocked that anyone on this forum would condone someone not following government rules.

Gunsmiths use a tool called a "Range Rod" for checking the timing on revolvers. Different sizes for different calibers. Basicly its a metal rod that will just fit the barrel bore. You rotate the cylinder & check the alignment in each chamber with the barrel. A 7/32'' drill bit / chuck end / fits an NAA mini mag perfectly. I showed this to my local Gunsmith & he said it would work fine.
