I grew up with wheel guns.  My grandpa taught me how to shoot on an old 55A Iver Johnson.  But I've kind of drifted away from them.  For a long time I was revolver~less.  But just before Christmas I picked up this lil' feller for my "Hiking/Fishing/'case something happens" gun.  I wanted a revolver so I could use subsonics, quiets, CB's, LR's and whatsomeevers as required.  BUT, it has a strong liking for CCI Velocitors.

Here's a wheel gun you have not seen: Its a TALO Bug Out II in 22 mag. Just came in a couple of hours ago. This is serial #25.

Nice. Been waiting for those to finally show up. Got a price of $290 from my LGS. Only $9 off of MSRP. Interested to know what you paid before i pull the trigger.

Nice. Did you put the black grips on it or do they come standard on the magnum?

My first one was the 38. I wish I had gotten the 357 first then I'd have had both in one gun  8)

Arts09-
I own Acworth Guns. $290 is less than I priced this one. I have about decided to make it my EDC mini. For those who like the combo models, Davidsons has the Bug Out II combos in stock.

Thanks! Pulled the trigger on one today and like you it will probably be my EDC also. Do you know anything about the NAA "Mini Shadow" that's now a new listing? No pic's, just was wondering if you've seen any info on what this one will look like.

I do know there is an issue with the coating they had originally planned to use, and it has been scrapped. There are discussions on what the new coating will be. I was told they are hopeful for late spring, maybe May or June.

Nice art. I think my dad had a pair of these back in the day. At the time I did not like them for some reason but have come to appreciate them now. Good start to wgw.

I know what you mean Joe. It was listed on GunBroker for a great price and had to pull the trigger! These Top Breaks just grow on ya no matter who's the manufacturer!

I picked up my latest wheel gun yesterday to replace an identical one that I sold a couple years ago and regretted. I found a guy selling one locally for WAAAYY UNDER market value. So happy to have my Taurus 981 Hunter in .22-Magnum "back" again. This one is identical to the one I sold and yesterday I ordered the same holster from Cabelas that I had on my original. I bought my original one brand new from a dealer and I can't tell the difference with this one. It's like new. Ahh, buying some guns just feels so good.

This brings me up to 15 Taurus wheel guns.

That looks like it should be a 357 or larger, Not a mere 22 mag.

Yup, it's a large-frame revolver, for sure. It's 9 shot, but probably should have been chambered for more. The holster I got is for a .357-type revolver. I had a really hard time finding the one I bought for my last one, because it's a holster for a bigger caliber gun. I won't quite have my gun back until I get the holster. :)

Thanks! I picked up that Lawrence 120 awhile back for $5, and since I didn't have a 4-5/8" Single Six to fit it, I had to get one!  :D

Haven't bought a Lawrence for a while.  I bought all mine used several years ago.  The younger tacti-cool crowd don't know anything about Lawrence and the other old companies.  They are all using plastic.  Last year was talking to an active USPSA shooter at a club board meeting, and he was telling that you have to have a holster that keeps the trigger covered, and has retention, and all the other current requirements.  I asked him if that was the latest and greatest, what ever happened to Tom Threepersons idea that the less leather in a holster, the better ( the 120 is Elmer Keith's take on the Threepersons design ).  He asked who Tom Threepersons was, and I said the top Oklahoma and Texas gunman of the teens and twenties, who followed the lessons of Wes Hardin and the other old timers that less was better in a gun fight.  He had never seen a Bucheimer Federal Man from the fifties and sixties, and said that they could not be used in a match, because the trigger was not covered.   I don't know what his take would be on an Askin's Avenger.  I asked him how many shooters at the last USPSA match had ever shot and killed a man, and he said that he didn't think any of them had, and my response was, well, what makes them experts of holsters then.

I think Lawrence closed in the '80s.
I'm a big fan of the Tom Threepersons design. I also have one by El Paso Saddlery for my .45 Blackhawk. It's been said of EPS that the day you call them and order a holster, they buy a calf and start feeding it so its hide can eventually be used to make your holster.  ;D
Every time I've ordered from them, that has seemed to hold true! But you can't rush quality.

Here's another one; this is my large frame Bisley Vaquero .45 with its 1930 Austin holster by El Paso Saddlery. That's one of the holsters I ordered from them to fit this specific revolver.

I also have a Threepersons style by El Paso's predecessor, S. D. Myers, that was thrown in when I bought my Bearcat back in 65.  Nice little pair.

Thanks! 1930 is the model number and, I suppose, the year they added the design to their lineup. I bought that revolver new in the late '90s, called EPS and ordered the holster not long after. That holster cost approximately half the price of the revolver.
