Some guy was selling a top-break on ARMSLIST a couple of weeks back , said he sold it was minutes before I arranged to buy . He's in N.C. supposedly , he just contacted me again and said he has another , both were for $650.00 plus shipping . Wants to use Pay-Pal or Western union for payoff . WOW is that bait or what ? BEWARE !!!! Then again it just might be legit . I'm feeling him out as we speak . ::) Anybody feel brave I'll give you the e-mail address to pursue this good deal if there really is one , I have all I need anyways .
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

I got the same offer from this guy today. $650 plus $50s&h for the breaktop. I asked him for pics and he sent me two views of a ranger no visible serial number.  If it sounds too good to be true...

G50AE

The local candy store has an extensive selection lolly-pops in various flavors.  :P

heyjoe

tell him you are in north carolina and will meet him face to face.
It's too bad that our friends cant be here with us today

Wiring money by Western Union is a big red flag. African scammers LOVE Western Union.

PayPal has a policy against using their service to buy guns, so he could claim that he never got the money because PayPal confiscated it. Sounds tempting, but offer to pay a different way or meet him, if possible.

Scbuxton what exactly has he told you ? I've been checking him out here and there , E-bay site (great feedback but no listing presently) , his FFL. place he's going to use for shipping I even have his cell number but still it's pretty spooky . Heard from him last night around 9:30 told me I have before 9:am today to continue purchase then it's being showed to a more local guy later today . Like MR_22 said it's a catch 22 situation with Western Union or Pay-Pal , no recourse for thievery . I hate this kind of thought , still trying to get the serial number in full , haven't yet just three last digits which isn't enough for me ....... Following up : The more I talk to this guy the more legit he seems but then again I thought cable television would go nowhere . :)  More follow ups he sent me pictures of both case and gun serial numbers .

if i lived relatively close to this guy i would meet him, check out the gun, walk him to the ffll   so that it could be sent to my state and hand him cash at the end of that process.

Well Heyjoe I did like you said told him I have a buddy up there that could meet with him at his FFL. location for payoff thats when it seemed too much of a hassle and complicated for him to continue . I still have a feeling he's legit but I'm chicken .  :) By the way serial number was BT000283 . Still chicken .  :)

if he doesnt want to meet at a local ffl for him, then i doubt he's legit and its just not worth the chance anyway

I believe the real issue is that in this information age no one is unable to get a feel for any item's fair market price. To offer an item at a 50% discount to fair market value is a hustle.
When I emailed him about the "origional" Ranger he said he was a VP of Sales for a software company. As such, I would think he should be a highly savvy individual and have a realistic idea of the current market value of a Ranger.
Whoever came up with the expression, "if it sounds to good to be true, it probably isn't", was a very wise person indeed.

OV-1D

I received the same info from him this time around , if it wasn't the weekend I would have known for sure but this hustle on a weekend dang . I always give a guy the benefit of the doubt but for possibly losing $700.00 smackers I kinda lose my faith . Sure could use a third one again HaHaHa , I know........... I'm a dog .  :) I just wish I was around when everyone was ordering early bird for these beauties .  :) :)

Did not know that, thanks for the tip.

OV-1D, if you are still considering this offer, please let me know your favorite flavors of hard candy.  I will be happy to send you several lolly-pops in your favorite flavors.  :P

Besides that Pay-Pal doesn't cover direct money wirers with their insurance policy for fraud or damages . Sending money by Pay-Pal is just like Western Union money transfers , no recourse except crying the blues or a road trip .  :-\

However, if you were to use Pay-Pal to purchase Lolly-Pops from an online candy store, that is a different matter.  ;)

OV1D the only contact I had with the guy was his offer to sell the second ranger yesterday at 2:15pm . Ireplied wwith a request for pictures and he sent me two pics of a ranger in a man's hand , views that showed no serial no.
I did not respond.
The only way that I would proceed with any kind of transaction with this guy would be face to face with my back to the wall and one hand on my concealed weapon.
The only way some yahoo can cheat me out of my hard earned dollars is for me to succomb to my own greed or desire. Yes, I want a ranger real bad, but I won't let that want cloud my better judgment and put myself in jeapordy to save a few bucks or get something I would like to have.
Beware, friend. This looks too good to be true.

OV-1D

I received those pictures also and then he sent pictures of box label and gun bottom with serial number . One of us got too tied of typing back and forth and it was called off seeing he had a local guy coming to look anyhow . I looked up his E-bay site he said he has , nothing listed , but his feedback was exceptional on a bunch of sales . I verified he had the site by asking a question on e-bay and he responded saying it was him , SOOOOOO . I really do think he's legit but it was getting to be a hassle trying to set things up . He just might still have it if his local guy didn't show . He tells me he'll be out of town Tues thru Sat next week . Heres the super sleuth in me his fingertips matched up with the picture on e-bay and the ones he sent us .HaHaHa . It's the guy but does he have the gun ?????????????????????? I think he does or did or he's real good at scamming . He also told me he wanted that kind of payment for his wifes Christmas present and didn't want a record on his charge statement for her to see . Made sense to me , who knows but I'm out needing it  . Later . :)

All you folks that have been wanting a Ranger at a give away price should be jumping on this.
It is what you all have been asking for.

someone who doesnt want to get paid by western union which is used by sammers everywhere. western union itself even warns of this. there have been numerous reports on other gun boards of people being contacted in pm about guns and accessories  like this guy is doing and being ripped off.

actually you guys should put his name out there so there is fair warning for others.

Oh yeah, how'd that go?

SHOCKED the sh*t out or BEAT the sh*t out of them? :)

Long before eBay was around, some guy in Florida ripped me off on an Internet deal. I finally tracked his phone number down (which was much harder to do than it is now) and called him to ask where my money was. Surprised the brown crud of them, too, but I still never got my money from him. Called a few more times trying to get my money and they finally told me to stop calling them, as if *I* was the problem.

I finally gave up on them, because it was only thirty bucks or something. eBay protects buyers pretty well nowadays, so I use them to buy most of my stuff any more.

grayelky

I made contact with rhtrainersoft. He said the BT was gone.

Scammers are always surprised when you track them down. Years ago a guy scammed me on an automotive accessory and I finally tracked him to an address in a little town in Missouri.  Called the local cops with the whole story and that I was a NJ police commissioner(the truth).  They said the address was not a company like I thought but a house in a residential neighborhood.  They knocked on his door and told him why they were there.  They said to mail the product or the money within the week or they would be back.  He must have crapped his jockeys.  I got a check in the mail in a few days.  Called the local chief and thanked him for the favor.

Love a story with an ending like that! It is great when a crook gets pressed.

It seems anyone who owns two BT's would know their real worth. I sold mine on Gunbroker for $1500 and it had been fired (a very rare one :) ) . This was over  a year ago and I was a "newbie" on there to with no feedback. I set it up as an auction, but with a $1500 "Buy it Now" to see if it could reach that much despite being fired, and within 2 days someone hit the button and bought it. Unless values have plummeted there would have to be something dodgy about anyone asking well below market value - and then of course there are the other warning signs to be wary of.
