I am not close to this.   100,000+ told to go.

Down stream a ways but watching the news.
Not as concerned about flooding as losing the airport and not being able to get home.
The Feather River runs right by the Sacramento Airport.
If Oroville Dam fails it runs right into Sacramento.

One thing I would like to know , why is it we as humans only find out that something doesn't work till after its need or use it . Seems mankind it way dumber that we pretend to be in most cases that is . Building a dam sure isn't rocket science yet it failed at first use and here we are messing around with nuclear crap and beyond . GOD help us because I think we'll kill ourselves in the end without HIS help .

P.S. should of had a German design and build it , certainly nobody from California remember those drug years ..

Now they want the FEDS (US) to bail them out with bunches of money . First lock up the designers and builders and anyone who prospered , cash wise , then think about bailing out . I'm fed up of paying for jackasses that are also idiots . Second off what kind of morons build , not alone thinks of , the highest dam in a very active earthquake zone . TOO MANY NARCOTICS ARE USED IN CALIFORNIA .......... STILL . Just how stupid does it get with knowledgeable people , seems to show the education system in the good old U.S.ofA. ? Then of course theres Japan ................................................................... You know I thought about it and might have been too hasty with my opinion that being these jerks that built and designed this dame dam might have built it this way so they could let it fail when the BIG ONE does come and this water can help put out the fires that ensue and also wash all the garbage and debris out into the ocean where they have dumped all other crap over the years . GOD help our oceans and all the pristine life it supports ,out of site out of mind . More rocket science in progress .

  I've just gotta give up reading the worthless news all it does is infuriate me over and over again . They need to put a everyday section for the comics so as to distract , me anyhow , from the crap that's being reported by high school dropouts .   If theres one thing I regret not doing in my life is just that , panning for gold in the wilderness with a fly rod of course . Dang I can only dream and dream . I would like to bring my own refridge and grub (fully stocked ) , booze wet bar, ha . maybe nice for someone to add , chip in ,a two bedroom cabin with a head ,kitchen,T.V. (no commercials) , running hot water ,central heat and air . Oh lets not forget the maid and massage girl , the wife could be optional , and my hounds gotta have my hounds . Oh and a strike of gold running to the center of the earth (three feet square) right outside the back door . GOD MAKE IT SO , PLEASE . All I need is the Publishers Clearning House win .   Heck Unc if I told you everyone would know ,  ;D ;D ;D  Besides with all the rest who needs the gold , life would be complete . Two more to add my favorate doctor close at hand and a chinese chef like on Bonnaza (Hop-Sing). Ha Ha Ha .

If I was younger, I might search for gold.
As of today, there is nothing I would spend it on. Well a pair of Ranger II's and I have enough money to buy them.

  Unc its the quest and just being there , I feel . Gold would be a plus ofcourse . Some of the best places to pan for gold would be places that you would have a great chance of becoming big bear fodder and I can't run no more . I wonder if bears respect the stand your ground rules of engaugement, ha ha . ;D  Oh but the trout and steelheads would be fabuious in those places , again with the dreaming . ::)

  I'm somewhere in the middle it seems , my memories of those things come from National Geographic magazine and reading about them . Never got too far around ,that working thing always got in the way . Again with the workaholic , might have been on four actual short vacations in life , few and far between . That one I listed has yet to be performed , shorter chance though , need more lifetimes .  ;)

I remember driving along the Feather River in the mid 70's when working in that area. Would see people panning but mainly saw the divers with the vacuum type of machine sucking the gravel off the bottom. A rancher in far northern California handed me a small pill bottle with gold flakes and small nuggets he had found. I about dropped it, realized then how heavy gold actually was.
