A few of my Minis.  Did get an orange grip BUG that I?ve stashed away, and my EDC clip grip are not shown.  The .22LR with the lanyard was worn when I was in uniform.  Comforting to know it was there.  Loaded with Stingers at the time.

Nice assortment!

I'd like to see the lanyard ring you used. I think a small one would look great on an 1860 but have read that 17-4 stainless can be horrible to drill by a rank amateur such as myself.

Rimfire

Nice guns - especially like the Ranger.
Deplorable before deplorable was cool.

Those lanyard rings are good till they rip your hand and or fingers firing a loose gripped magnum . They always seem to be in the way of a good shot .  ;)

I kinda lean toward the .22 short...it is much more capable than naysayers give it credit for...

Rick_Jorgenson

A very nice assortment of mini's!

So... which one is next?  ;)

Nice collection.... thanks for posting!

Copfish,
I too used the 22lr mini as my palm pistol while in uniform. Then started to using the 22 magnum minis and just before retirement,to a PUG.

I would probably say that the 22lr mini may very well be NAA's most popular piece out there. I have yet to see a person start a mini collection w/o have the 22lr mini as his first one.

By the way, 55 yrs ago today,May 8th,I was discharged from the military and was on inactive reserve. One week later I started on my PD job for the next 40.

Thank you for your service - military and LE. 🇺🇸

Top Dog, thanks for your service and all the great info!  I agree, most of the guys (and gals) I worked with had a NAA or Freedom Arms .22LR tucked away.  My second NAA was the .22 Short.  Then it snowballed...

Top Dog, I also say thank you for your service.  Here?s a coincidence.  55 years ago you got our, and I entered.

OV-1D

Sure don't want to disrespect anyone but thanking our guardians in the military , its was said by many troops , they hate to hear that one thing ,Thank you for your service . They said it singles them out as a minority in some manner or another .Not sure itself exactly why they take as more as an insult somehow . ???????????? . Any takes on this subject ?  ??? ??? ???

OV-1D,

I don't take it as an insult but more of a genuine thank you.  When I see a Vietnam Veteran I approach him and say   Welcome Home.

Being that Vietnam Vets were not given any real welcome back.

As for police service,I can pretty much of our cases are assists and not arrests. Injuries/accidents occur and you have to help these folks out of the mess.

I?ve never heard of a veteran ever been insulted by someone saying thank you for your service , that?s a new one on me.

LHB

I just think about how different the attitude is now than it was 54 years ago, I haven't been called a baby killer since 1968, when I hung up the uniform.

top dog

Copfish,
You saying that the 2nd mini you got was a 22 short.  It was some time later that I was able to get a 22 short.

I may be wrong on this, but I think that NAA only makes small  production runs on the 22 short.

I got into minis with a pair of shorts (no, not "fruit of the loom") with consecutive serial numbers  in 1976.
No more until the Earl came out. After that I went crazy.

I thought the dimensions on the short were perfect!  Just looks (and shoots) great!  Such a blast to plink with Short CB caps.

Copfish,
The 22 short mini is definitely unique. I was able to get mine through the NAA LE program in 2008.

Probably because they are lying about their service.  No kidding.  Studies have proved that more men lied about their service in Vietnam than actually were in country.   Just google It and you will find many articles.

Funny, no one ever lies about serving in West Germany or Okinawa.    I guess those countries wouldn?t make um a hero.   Nothing worse than a lier.

A couple of innocent questions can be asked to someone who claims service in Vietnam. In short order, you can tell if they were there or not..

Getting back to the 22 short. Is it the best SD choice,of course not.  But some time back I did a couple of tests to see how the 22 short performed.

I found that the Remington high velocity bullet would penetrate 4 layers of steel soup can steel. Not too bad for a small cartridge from a tiny piece.

The NAA 22 short's diminutive size allows it to be packed just about everywhere.

I consider it to be a true gem that NAA made like a Swiss Watch.

I gave my .22 long rifle Mini to the oldest son because it was just too tiny to operate even with my small hands.
It was so little, he lost it in the Christmas wrapping paper box and didn?t find it until the following December.
So I gave him the factory buckle to keep it holstered.

bearcatter

I wouldn't have stopped looking until I found it. Close as I've come to that is one time my wife lost her main car keys. We knew they were in the house, she had to have them to get in the house. We looked for 2-3 hours. Found them a month later in our chest freezer.... ;D  Guess they were in her hand when she put some groceries away.

What holds the mini in the buckle?

Looks like the top of the hammer and something over the trigger is holding it in?

I just got a couple Apple air tags to help keep from loosing keys.

top dog

Armybrat,
That mini looks like it is secure in that belt buckle holster but I would always have that hidden fear that it would fall out unnoticed .

                                                                                                             Top Dog

TooDog it really would take physical effort to lose that gun ,they are kinda tough to dislodge just to get the gun out . Theres a tough magnet for one thing then the brace across the trigger area and as you can see the hammer spur is behind the buckle face up top slightly . It takes some practice to retrieve that gun in a tight situation honestly . The original Freedom Arms buckle doesn't have all those qualities to keep the gun in place . Besides only open carry states can you wear such a buckle anyhow . Soon I'm having Rick our leatherman to make some elastic encompassed leather covers for some of my buckles just so I can carry daily with no arrests . Ha .

When I was a kid I had a belt with a cap gun derringer in the buckle. When you pushed a button, the derringer would swing out and fire. I can really see that being allowed these days. I think it was this one:

I did find this fake buckle on Amazon with what definitely looks like a mini molded in:

There was a time that the .22 short was the ONLY gun NAA made.

OV-1D

I believe Bill they picked up after Freedom Arms didn't do , make a short style gun . Kinda blurry at the end of Freedom arms productions of 22's of who did what and when .. ??? ??? I love my collection of Freedom Arms , very classy well made and well finished weapons inside and out .  :) :)

Sounds like you have a great idea having Rick make a cover for the mini.

When you get it,let us see what a great job he did!!!

Seems to be that way when you have so many irons in the fire. Things tend to go "astray".

Luckily, Texas is an open carry state now, even without a license.
I am not sure how easy or difficult it is to pop that little .22 out of the buckle. I have not handled them together yet.
It is just a novel, but pretty cool, sartorial accessory to me.  :)
