Pug accuracy

For the Pug owners out there , what kind of practical accuracy are you seeing?

Currently own a Black Widow that is an incredibly accurate gun for its size . I have no issues hitting a soda can at 25 yds. I wear slacks and a dress shirt six days a week in an environment that must be very discrete . Sometimes the extra lenght of the widow makes me want a Pug.  Yet do not want to sacrifice too much accuracy.

I don't have a Pug JDB, but I've shot one owned by a friend a fair amount. All other things being equal (cartridge, sights, grip, etc.), the shorter sight radius would make it more difficult for your eyes to see a slight error in the sight picture, so it would be more difficult to shoot it as accurately. The difference in muzzle weight may be noticeable to you as well, as more weight toward the muzzle tends to hold steadier. At very short distances (what the Pug is designed for) none of those differences matter much.

Job3,
I agree with KC. At realistic self defense range, accuracy is a moot point.

The PUG is a very handy piece and like the BW and all other NAA minis, very well made.

May I suggest if you do get one,get the extra 22lr cylinder as well so you can practice more frequently.

Thanks for the replies,  I would be happy if 10-12 yds would be realistic. I would absolutely get the LR cylinder. My black widow started with as a mag but most of the rounds have been LR . Its just too much fun .

Very accurate little gun. Less than 2" @ 7 yards. Take the flyer out and it quite a bit smaller grouping.  8)

As a 2nd time owner of the Pug magnum, to me, it's only purpose is to kill a snake while fishing with CCI Shot Shell or if it's on me instead of another personal defense pistol, to get someone out of my face at close range.  There are limitations to these very small handguns, understanding them and accepting them is the key.

My newest Pug Magnum has let me down on two occasions while shooting at the range.  This is a brand new pistol,  the first incident was with the cylinder pin, the small piece of metal that is pressed from one part into the other that holds the spring and two pieces together flew out at the range leaving the pistol unusable.  This happened after about 10 rounds through the new pistol.  All the pieces were eventually found by other members in different lanes at the range.  Fortunately for me, the dealer here along the MS Coast has a guarantee on anything they sell so when I came back to them with the issue it was resolved with a new one they "borrowed" from another new Pug in stock while a new cylinder pin assembly was ordered from NAA.

The next trip to the range I was practicing one handed fast 2 rounds to the full body target from the Pug laying on the loading tray in front of me on my lane.  After about 20 rounds the cylinder would not rotate while attempting to pull the hammer back.  It was jammed solid and would not move.  If you pulled down on the spring loaded cylinder pin and removed it, then it would eventually free up the cylinder for removal.  This happened  not once but several times.  I finally came to the conclusion this particular Pug must have been manufactured on a Monday or Friday and how it passed final inspection is beyond me.

After another trip to the dealer, it was decided this one needed to be sent home to NAA.  The fellow looking at it tried to shoot it and it worked for him, to different times he loaded it and fired it into their "barrel" or whatever they have in the back.  He came back out and I told him again the issues I was having and he then slid a business card between the cylinder and frame.  He noted there was a difference in the gap from one end of the cylinder to the other stating something is cockeyed with the way that pin holds the cylinder.  Bingo!!!!!  I received a work order card and was told they would call me when it comes back from NAA.  Wish me luck.
