I just got my new Sidewinder. What LR range ammo does everyone use.
I want to try out my sidewinder at the range.

Jim1392

Today, anything I can get.  ;D

22 LR, 22 Longs, 22 Shorts, BB caps, CB caps.
Just so the lead is on the right end.......

Why can't the lead be on the left end?

The little rim won't let it go in to the chamber.
Those are for the left handed gun............ :-\

Once I put one of those lead things in backwards and almost SHOT me eye out !  ;) ;) ;) ;)
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

I just noticed that I also have some left-handed ammo. Would it be okay if I install them in the cylinder backwards?

I've yet to shoot my new BW, but I can't imagine it will be sensitive to ammunition (don't use PMC according to the manual).  Now if we were talking about a 22 semi auto that'd be a different story.  If you have a stockpile shoot the oldest stuff, if not shoot whatever you can get your hands on!

I had to clear out all the old accounts that were not activated (clicking the activation link from the email that was sent when registering) to clean up some of the spam we have been getting, you will probably have to re-register and i can change your post count.

There's a lot of this going around. Over the past year I've shot pretty much whatever I could find - no real opportunity to develop a preference.

Any sign of this ammo shortage ending anytime this century?

Dinadan

This past year I have been buying most of my ammo from Ammo To Go. They have .22 LR and .22 mag in stock at this time. I am a satisfied customer.

Sorry I'm not paying 70 bucks for a brick that should cost only 25 bucks or less. Every bodies price gouging.

Good luck finding the $25 brick. I keep hoping to see prices come down, but I think that that the $25 dollar brick may have gone the way of 39¢ petrol.

Bigbird48

Well wally world still sells them ,granted you have to be there early on a day that they ship in but but it does happen and my LGS has them once in a while for 35 got to catch em right tho .

Walmart got in 3 cases of Winchester 555 bulk packs last night. I and my wife each got 3 bulk packs at $27.88, plus tax. Friend got 3 out of next case for
$24,67 each, plus tax.  Will check in a few min. and see if there is any left. Don't know if the cheaper price is am old price, or the new price.

Bigbird48

which wal mart where lol

boone123

Bigbird, don't matter as they were all gone. I did ask the clerk if the cheaper price was an old price or the new price. Said it was the new price.
Looks like this ammo shortage might be about over.

Speaking of .39 petrol; gas around my area is below $2.00 a gallon. I think I have seen it as low as $1.92 per gallon.

Oh whoopee I'm saving pennies on gas and loosing dollars in the stock market.

boone123

If I get to choose, I will take cheap gas.  In fact I hope it gets so cheap that they can't afford to put ethanol in it.

Bigbird48

I guess you have nothing in the stock market then. I've lost a few K already and they say its all because of the oil prices going down.

I have lost a few K buying high priced gas. Didn't have any money to invest in the stock market, as all my money went for high priced ammo and high priced gas.
I use a LOT of both. I bet there is more happy gas customers now than there was happy investors a short time ago.. Another of life's tradeoffs.
I invest my money in my lifestyle, but if I was putting in the stock market, and it had anything to do with oil, I would have bailed when North Dakota  went apeshirt with all that oil.
I invest a lot of money in salvage 22 brass..Just me.

That is how I felt when the Feds protected me from Microsoft's monopoly. Cost me money in the stock market and I do not think my software never got cheaper. I should have just bought guns!

I agree with that 100%.

RogueTS1

The stock market has been in the crapper, as a whole, for several years now. It has its upward trends but as a whole, it has not been a great place to earn unless you are a day trader.

I'm learning to play the game, for those of you who have heard of Jesus, He said the poor you'll have with you always matt 26:11 He never said we had to stay poor, in fact Gal 3:13 shows clearly that Jesus died to restore the blessing. Kroger has fuel points that give you discount on price
Jesus loves YOU all of you

Rogue,   Day traders die broke.  Buy a closed end bond fund like PHK.  It pays about 11 percent per year payable monthly.  Been paying that since I  bought it seven years ago.  Or VGM which pays 6.5 percent tax-free :)

Yes they most often do and that is because they get greedy. I agree, those are other and much better yielding items providing again one does not get greedy and the managers are above board and do not get lazy. Well performing bonds are the best way for one to earn on their capital.

When I used to have 40s, 45s, and 9s, I would always pickup some sort of cheap .22 to go along with the bigger caliber ammo buys.  This has resulted in me having a more than comfortable amount of .22lr.  100 mini mags for a a few extra bucks?  Sure why not.  I wasn't stockpiling, just buying on the cheap.  I see me once again getting a 9 (CZ 75 more than likely).  Grabbed 2 boxes of lawman for $25 today.  I could have bought more, sure.  If you spread ammo purchases out over time and buy when you don't need it you'll never run out.  Don't mean to sound preachy, just sharing what I have done forever.

I don't stockpile ammo. I am just the middle man between loaded ammo, and spent brass.

Kevin

The centerfire ammo shortage seems to be over here in Janesville, Wisconsin. They had gondolas with .45ACP, 40S&W and 9mm stocked both before Christmas and the day after. They had no .22 rimfire ammo at all last week. I checked today (they get their rimfire ammo delivered on Thursdays if the get any at all), and they had a couple dozen 50 round boxes of generic .22lr available at $4/box. No .22 Magnum ammo. Maybe after the 2016 Presidential primary shows us that Billary will be be the next President, one of the big ammo factories will invest in a new .22 cal ammunition plant.
