I think Joe's solution is probably best.  Stay out of the glades.  I haven't heard much about the Python problem lately.  Did they give up on the eradication program?  A couple years ago, they hired some snake wranglers to hunt them down.  It seems like once the problem surfaced, it was already too late.  Last I heard, the pythons may grow to record lengths due to the ideal conditions, and lack of predators.  Once they get to a certain length, the gators don't even mess with them.
I'm pretty sure they are still down there takin care of business it's just not newsworthy like Russian meddling or 45's toupee

It could be worse.  My son lives in Bangkok.  His dog was barking like something was wrong downstairs.  He went running down the stairs and into the kitchen.  He was face to face with a cobra!  His dog who likes to kill snakes, had the good sense to steer clear.  My son tried to grab the snake by squeezing his neck between two broom sticks, but the snake proved too slippery, and got away.  He then placed an open box on its side in the corner of the room with just a big enough opening for the snake to crawl in.  He figured the cobra might want a place to hide.  It worked.  He closed the box up with tape, and drove it out to a field to release it.

I asked him why he didn't kill it, and he said the Thais believed if you killed it in your home, all the snakes relatives would come there looking for it.

Why shoot the dog? I like most dogs more than I do people.

HonkyTonkMan,
54 years ago this month,I was in the land of the Cobra ('Nam).  And your son tried to grab the snake???!!!  Yipes!!!

I would have blasted it with a 12 gauge and the heck with the kitchen cabinets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Glad that all worked out well.

Why the heck did your son release it??? I would have taken that box outside and peppered it good.  But that is just me.

Smokeless Joe,

Yep,those Burmese Pythons do get pretty darn big.  I would probably down in the 'glades in my 13 ft canoe and probably get all wrapped up by one of those 22 foot Pythons.

The only Pythons I like are the ones with Colt written on the barrel!!!

Wow!  I agree.  Why shoot the dog?  His dog was a rescue.  He found it in a box on the side of a road, and raised it from a pup.  His dog may have saved his or his wife's life.  As far as shooting the snake; Bangkok is a metro area with a 14 million population.  There are probably laws about discharging firearms in the city, if you're even allowed to have a gun there?  My son caught a rattle snake when he was a little kid, so he's pretty comfortable with snakes.

When I was a kid, I had a Fastback, Lime Green.  I am sorry but I don't remember the year but it was a true Muscular Car. (I know it is just Muscle)

My town at that point had no police.  No lights and a couple of four way stops.  It was also dry, so we had to drive into town to get our beer.  This was way before I came to Christ.

We had a lot of fun in that car, I sold it to a buddy before I went off to the Peace Corps.  He drove it under a semi-trailer and totaled it. :'(

(I assume you all remember where I keep mu extra 22 short Mini, right?)(just looking to get things back on the OT)(LOL) ;D

My first car was a 66 notchback. I paid 300 dollars for it. It had a straight 6 cylinder in it. It got totaled. My next one was also a 66 with a 289. That's the one I miss the most. Later I got an 87 a 93 and a 96 convertible. I had plans to keep the 96 forever but my ex borrowed it one day and it got totaled (not her fault) she was ok so that's all that mattered. Things can be replaced people can't. Like I said one day I may have another.

Uncle_Lee

My first car was a 54 4 door Chevy that got 50 miles to the quart on oil.
It got me there and back. Hauled 7 Sailors off on liberty and back many times.

I'm a devoted VW bus guy but now they cost as much as a new fully loaded Yukon Denali . Check out some on E-Bay Holy Moly !!!  Just to think I owned at least four buses (two early campers) over the years . I changed out engines like some change oil in their cars , dang I miss those days so much . I use to carry the pony keg of beer (and other unlikely substances) for the biker troop (all seven of us) that surrounded me on our cruises . I want to go back please . Oh and back to thread use to carry a long barreled Freedom Arms mini in the boot of course .
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

The Pug is by far my favorite. Black Widow is more accurate but still second to the Pug on my list.

I have read all the above posts with great interest and have found that regardless of the mini you choose,it is the one that you find best for your purpose and what you are comfortable with.

The bottom line being that it (or they) are with you pretty much all the time and that is what counts.
