Do you think they will take the lug underneath housing the extractor all the way to the end or do they take just the barrel out to the end, or something inbetween?

Uncle_Lee

I haven't seen it yet but I hope they make it longer so it will extract the empties all the way.... 8)

I expect it to be like the Earls: just extending the barrel in front of the retaining lug. If geting it into production quickly and at minimal extra cost is a factor, that is how I would do it. I would like to see the retaining lug tapered forward a little, maybe one half inch, to give it a less blocky appearance, but I do not expect it.

I want a pair of 2" or 2 1/2" Sidewinders, not really interested in 4" mini revolvers.

CavScout

Since the cylinder locks in place using the rear pin (star end) and conical seat in the rear barrel lug, the forward barrel lug and spring loaded plunger would seem to be optional. The length of the ejector rod machined is just a matter of changing the CNC program. Some type of forward barrel lug would still help with snag free holstering. Barrel profile should be a matter of integrated function.

With a 4" barrel we're entering "target worthy" territory. Will there be MiniMaster type sight offerings???

I would love to have a pair of 4" Sidewinders........looking forward to pics in January.

I'm not really crazy happy about the 4" barrel but that is the only way to get one here. They should call it the Kalifornia model.

louiethelump

It would be nicknamed the "fruits and nuts" model then, and no one would buy it.  OH!  That was the plan, right?  LOL!

I had no intentions of buying a 4 inch barrel until Uncle Lee said he had to have one.  When he speaks I listen.

Don't forget there 45flint you'll need two of them also . Thats the best idea of uncle_lees .

Maybe NAA can gold plate it and call it the Gold Rush. Actually, I might be tempted to buy one if they did that ...

What did I do? What did I say? Where have I been?
I just said I would like to see the extractor longer on the Sidewinder in order to extract the empties better.

Yes I hope someone listens.

Also.

.32 ACP mini (it don't have to be a Sidewinder. It can be a "poke'um out" if that is what they make) I want a pair of them.

Any more information on the Sidewinders with barrels longer than 1"???

I've been wanting a Black Widow, but NAA doesn't ship them to Kalifornia.  The Mini-Master is nice, and thanks to this forum, it looks like it might be available in California, but I'd like a 22mag with a shorter 2" to 2.5" barrel.

Currently, only the 1-1/8" barrel 22lr and 22wmr are shipped out here.  I can't say that I blame NAA for not wasting more money on the nonsensical testing system.   Waiting to see if other revolvers are shipped out to Kommiefornia.

With obama getting ready to control guns and ammo through Executive Orders, maybe none of us will be able to buy anymore guns or ammo.

Yea I have been watching that Executive Order garbage since I heard about it.  ???

I am not sure about a 2" or a 4" barrel. A 4" would need a belt holster as it would not fit well in a pocket I would think.

But we shall see!

Uncle_Lee

I don't want a holster.

I want a pair of 4" Sidewinders.

And a pair of .32acp minis.

I just think the longer the barrel the odder it will look given the lug underneath.  But nice boot grips could help?   I need to see it, can picture it in my head.  Surprised we have not had a photo shop of one yet?

I only have Paint.   Actual photo with two UNOFFICIAL mock ups of longer barrels.

Very cool, and I admit I am wrong I love the one on the bottom, and with boots could even be better.  This is the reason you have to listen to Uncle Lee, he is just a man of vision.   Where I obviously can't see beyond my stubby barrel.  I think the ticket for a cased set of SW would be one with different barrel lengths.  Glad I sold my other snubby to make way.

Uncle_Lee

NO, NO, NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If they look that good, then I have to get two more pairs.......
I don't care if they don't make the extractor any longer.    I want um.......... 8)

Thanks for the pictures Kevin.
That's good work.

I can just see the coolest cased set of all the barrel lengths.  Done two cased set doubles, need to move on!  Pick your poison at the range.  Just wonder how many of the longer lengths will be made this year, given the general demand for the gun will I think be pretty intense.

Hmmm, Kevin, I really never had a desire to get a Sidewinder (I'm more of an Earl guy and I don't have one of those yet either), but I have to admit, that bottom one looks 'very' cool!

I seem to have a new hobby.   ;D

My four new Sidewinder concept images based on the mid-length barrel.

Top:        Full length barrel lug
Bottom:  Black Widow profile barrel lug

PJ Garrison

The first set looked a little ungainly, but these look MUCH better with the full length underlugs.  Now all they need is the nice Black Widow sights and they'll be perfect (there's no point in having a long barrel if you're not going to put a rear sight on it).

45flint

Kind of like the original,  full lug least favorite

Uncle_Lee

If we are going to take a vote, I vote full lug, longer extractor, & 4" barrel.

And a pair of .32 acp minis.

Just the regular, take the cylinder out,& poke out the empties, with a 2" barrel.

Bet it does come out with full lug.  Doubt they would take the extractor out too much farther could more easily bend?  To full extract the mags. It would have to be pretty long really.  Might look odd.

Uncle_Lee

Odd?
Odd?

I look odd................

I REALLY like the BW version!

Kevin - nice work! The slanted lug on the last example is close to what I would like to see. But the guns you portray have barrels almost 3" long. The current Sidewinder has a 1 3/8" barrel: I hope that NAA offers a  2" or 2 1/4" barrel. Those 3" barrels look good and I would definitely buy one if NAA made it, but they are a little long for pocket carry.

Regarding the possibility of a longer ejector rod with a longer barrel: I would say the ejector rod is not especially robust and I would hesitate to lengthen it very much.
