Or slice the tip off the bullet

I agree not much powder but if you can do it with a 22 short this should work as well

Not important just an idea I am kicking around. Like you said it would be one of a kind and technically probably the smallest cap and ball revolver (being smaller than a regular Companion)

Practical? Probably not but sometimes this is about fun! When I had my 36 caliber Walker made it wasn't practical as with that long cylinder a chunk of the powder doesn't burn, even with a 9" barrel. Practical? No but it sure is fun to shoot even with the flames coming out the end of the barrel :)

Yes but NAA doesn't make a cap and ball on the short frame

I am going to look my companion over I wonder if the frame mounted firing pin is needed or a modified hammer would work that would probable be easier to fabricate

So essentially the frame mounted firing pin would need to be installed in the short frame after adding some metal? Quite a bit of work

Converting cartridge to percussion is fine

Converting percussion to cartridge is usually legal as long as you do it for yourself and don't sell it and local laws allow it

So it's really just relieving the frame for the flat hammer?

Wouldn't be worth the effort with the LR frame but the short would be interesting, getting the cylinder shortened by 3/8" wouldn't be hard to do.

What's the difference between the frame of standard LR revolver and the Cap and Ball Companion? Could the standard frame be converted to cap an ball?
#11
I was there used to post a picture of a different historical percussion revolver every day

I put them on my own forum at www.percussionrevolvers.com eventually

Seems like I remember an uncle Lee from an old voy message board on black powder revolvers years ago
#13
I bought enough imitation bonded ivory for three grips along with fiberglass liner material and rare earth magnets to hold them together but I don't have the skills or tools I need two grips made
#14
Like the cases I need a case for my Walker all my percussion revolvers are 36 caliber though or I'd be interested in the smaller one. If you want to sell just the Walker case drop me a line
#15
Bought some G10 knife space material to laminate as liners. Now just to wait for everything to show and buy a new dremel
#16
Bought the rare earth magnets what I am looking for is something to make the inserts
#17
I was thinking of making the inserts separate and laminating them to the grip panels any recommendations for a material to use? I want to make tight fitting inserts and holding the panels on with rare earth magnets joined in the center (magnets linking to themselves not the frame)

Got my companion and ordered enough banded ivory to make a few grips gonna try my own

Thanks

NAA Products / First Companion - Sort of
September-27-14 04:09
Ordered my first LR Companion the other day, sort of. I had two about two years ago but I traded them off for a pair of Cimarron/Uberti 1862 Police revolvers without ever firing them.

So any tips, tricks, things I should know. I'm not a stranger to cap and ball revolver I own at least a dozen now from the small Colt pocket styles up to a 36 caliber Walker in size

Don't have the equipment for it - the bands ivory is really nice has a gold/yellow bands in it looks like aged ivory
#22
Email sent. Would also like to try some grips made from some of this

I have grips made from their banded ivory on three Colt style pocket revolvers and it is just beautiful

No one? No where?

Where can I get real pearl grips for a mini companion not magnum?
