Finally saw some range time today. I took the short and the BW.
First the short. I have had it for some time but have not been able to shoot it because I could not find 22 short ammo anywhere. Today I only shot maybe 15 or 20 (because I was primarily interested in shooting the Widow). I'm not a big guy and I have small hands but *** that short is some tiny gun. It is pretty awkward to shoot for sure but still the coolest gun I have ever owned. Today, after every third or forth round it would become hard to cock, almost lock up. Once I got it cocked and it was ok for two or three more rounds and it would do it again. I'm not sure what that is all about....
The BW! I had a box of Hornady CD which I have been guarding because it was the last box of mags I had. Today I shoot the whole box plus about 10 rounds of the new Gold Dots that I had just purchased. I used three different target and the BW was shooting high and to the left when I started. It seem the BW's sight plain is way different from that of the mini, it wants to be the top of the front blade not the bottom as the mini does. I was shooting at 25' and by the time I was on the third target I had starting to hit more toward the center with each shot. The one thing I did notice was out of the 60 rounds I fired I didn't get one keyhole. I only shot 10 of the Gold Dots but didn't see or feel any differences in them and the Hornady's....

Nastruck - Good range report! I agree with you that the Short is a very cool gun, but it is too small for me to want to shoot much. My BW is a lot of fun to shoot, and now that you mention it, I do not recall keyholing with it. It seems to me that the faster rounds do not keyhole as much as the slower rounds. That is just a subjective impression, not based on any kind of record keeping.

That is a very good looking Black Widow!

Not too bad from 25 feet. I don't get to go to the range as often as I should, but was able to set aside a couple of hours on the morning of the upcoming Thursday, April 2nd to go. It has been about a year since I went, and I hope I do as well as you did. I will be taking my 3 favorite pocket carries, which are a Black Widow .22 Magnum, a Ruger LCP .380, and a S&W Model 638 .38 Special. I will admit I carry my Black Widow more often than the other 2, mainly because I just like how cool it is. Heaven forbid I ever have to pull a gun in self defense! That is the true definition of opening a can of worms! Not a good situation, no matter how you look at it.

Thanks guys. I'm 73 and the hands aren't nearly as steady as they used to be, I feel pretty good about the results. One other thing about the BW! I had painted the back of the front sight white on mine but it still isn't as bright as I would like. When I sight down the gun the front sight is very hard for me to see, I'm thinking of try some kind of florescent paint but all in all the BW is an awesome carry piece....
