Love those snub noses also , I feel like I'm on "DRAGNET" playing one of the roles . :) I think the size of the snubs is appealing because of their miniature size with power behind them . :)
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

I'm a big fan of older smiths. That 2" model 34 is one of my favorites.

Have read several times that the biggest advantage to a "real" hat as opposed to a cap, is that the hat helps to keep the sun off the ears, and melanoma from eating the ears.   Skin cancer was an occupational hazard for farmers and fishermen in the old days.   Farmers almost had a uniform of hat (felt or straw for the season), long sleeved blue shirt, and blue overalls, not jeans.   The blue shirts and overalls also helped to  kill the suns rays.

Very nice Smith&Wessons, OV-ID. I guess it is just the era that I grew up in, but those snub noses are iconic of detective movies and television in my youth. They were super accurate in those old shows, too. A bad guy was a goner no matter the range.

Honky Tonk Man

My first non-western cap gun was a snub-nosed detective model that came with a shoulder holster and a private eye license and badge in a wallet. I must have been 8 or 9 years old and the coolest kid on the block.

Some of those guns are still in use today in the movies  ;D

I've noticed the opposite in the John Wick movies, and Bruce Willis' Last Man Standing. These guys are constantly dropping mags, yet have an endless supply. Must be hard to run with 100 pounds of loaded mags in your pockets....LOL

hey folks - dang! Wednesday already?! ah well, here is a trio of my Charter Arms no-moon-clip wheelies... top is a Pitbull 9mm; i replaced the factory alloy trigger frame with a stainless frame and may polish the piece later on; the second is another Pitbull 9mm, a recent purchase, but older (note the different stampings on the barrel); the bottom is my latest Pitbull in .380ACP... i'm starting to really like shooting wheelguns - thanks for sharing pics of yours!

I might have to look into one of those 9's. Moon clips can be a pita at times. Does it seem pretty reliable?

my first Pitbull had to make a trip back to the mothership... there were some timing issues and i didn't like how the crane was machined... called Charter, they sent a prepaid box, i sent it off, it was fixed in three days and was sent back (10-days total FL->CT->FL) - has been flawless since over the last 1,000 rounds...

frankly, my main concern was with the extractor system, but all three revolvers extract 9mm and .380ACP flawlessly...

the downside? no speedloading... rounds are canted, then inserted (although there is a slight workaround: use your thumb to peel off and insert a round at a time from a cheap semiauto clip)... extraction is flawless when the revolver is inverted after a round of shooting....

the Pitbull .380ACP is pretty sweet, but i also like the 9mms too... these complement my Sig P238, Browning Hi-Power, and Keltec Sub-2000...

Thanks for the info. When I recover from my current "Irma" forced renovation I may take a serious look at one.

I like that old .38, Uncle. Fine revolver and a very effective photo, too! They must not have made a lot of revolvers chambered for .38 S&W, I have never come across one, anyway.

Nice Charter Arms revolvers, Linux. I especially like the bottom one with the three inch barrel.

I did go ahead and buy a .38+P Ruger LCRX a week ago. I have made two trips to the range with it, fifty rounds of three varieties of ammo just to get a feel for it. Accuracy is better than I expected. Recoil is about what I expected. I considered getting the .357 for the steel frame, but ultimately opted for the lightest possible weight since I do not plan to shoot .357, or +P for that matter.

Any of you fellows with an LCR have a recommendation for a belt crossdraw holster?

OV-1D

DANG Dinadan you made me duck pointing that thing at me . ;)

doggonit! i really, really wanted to like the Ruger LCR-series revolvers - some great features there... unfortunately, the trigger guard is absolutely guaranteed to abrade the top of my middle finger during use at the range (it seems oversized for my hands)... i don't have a problem with many other revolvers, especially the polished specimens and Rugers in stainless... but there's just something about the LCRs that, pardon the pun, rubs me the wrong way...

great lookin' wheelgun though... would like one of the .327 Federals!

I love the LCR's I've got a 38 and a 357. I had the 9mm but sold it because it wasn't as reliable as my SP101 9. Had I been aware of its issues before buying it I would have opted for something else.

Dinadin_ I used to have my grandfather's H&R Double Action, It was the one he kept in his pharmacy after WWI. That was a .38 S&W, 5 shot, dated at one time by the stamp on the barrel as 1897-1901. They made it in .32 which was a 6 shot.i don't have the gun any longer, but still have some of the spent shells.

Not sure, but I think that S&W brought out their 38 long before they decided to upgrade the 38 Long Colt to make the S&W Special.   I think that at the time of WWI the 38 S&W, or its twin, the 38 Colt New Police were the standard police rounds.   Now sure how many thousand 38 S&W revolvers were produced for the British  is WWII, which the Brits called the .380-200.   There are a lot of Colt Police Positives out there in 38 New Police / 38 S&W.
