Not yet. Had to buy new eyeglasses today and then found out my hours got cut back at work temporarily.
The second part isn't as bad as it sounds, it just means I'll only be working 40hrs a week now so I'm adjusting my budget accordingly.

Mine has over 1000 rounds through it easily. I'm aware of the problem and where the crack normally occurs and kept an eye on it.
I've regularly fired hot 32 ammo, hotter than recommended actually and it's doing ok. No +P stuff but European stuff that's loaded hotter than what we do here in the US.

I have never seen that much detritus removed from a barrel. Is the cylinder locking up properly? It almost looks like the bullets are being shaved and then just rattling around in the barrel. I'm not sure a mechanical issue would cause that amount of lead deposit in a barrel but I'd definitely check it just to be safe.
I run cheap Magtech full wadcutter through my revolvers regularly and have never had that much leading.

I have 3 Kahrs, CM9, CW9 & CW45. The CW9 worked flawlessly out of the box. I had some old Winchester white box 115gr hollow point that I used to break it in. It finally had a hiccup at 200rds because the ammo was dirty, even dirtier than normal white box. Ran a patch through it and went another 100 rounds with no problems.
The CM9 was a bit more problematic but worked fine after break in.
Both 9s like heavy bullets. 124 or greater. CM9 really likes 150gr HST.
The 45 is really ammo sensitive. It doesn't like Hornady bullets. The shape cause them to hang up on chambering. The 9s aren't crazy about Hornady either so I just don't use them.
The magazines will eject rounds in your pocket if you carry them that way. If you have this problem leave your magazines stored loaded for a week and they'll stop doing that. Apparently the mags need a break in period too.
Also, absolutely no weird shaped rounds like the Lehigh Xtreme Penetrators or the like. The offset feed ramp will not feed those at all.

now in .22wmr (and nope, i don't have the spare Franklins for this one):
Now I wish I hadn't seen this thread. Dammit. My bank account just got smaller.

Its not the gun's effectiveness that matters as much as the shooters'.
I frequently carry a Tomcat in 32acp and because of that I practice with it, a lot.
I positive I can dump a magazine of 32 into an assailant's face quicker than he knows what's happening to him.
If I need to be more discreet I have a Bobcat in 22. It'll do the job because I did mine and practiced.
The too small a caliber arguments are mostly macho bs for the common man only worried about personal defense.
Long live small caliber handguns!

Newest toys back from the range today. A S&W 638-3 which I rescued from a pawn shop, stripped the chipped up gray coating they put on them and am now polishing out. Also a new 351PD, 12oz with 7 rounds of 22mag. Lastly my NAA 22short.

Got mine for my Sidewinder a few weeks ago. Quality work. Almost too pretty to hide in a pocket. Next I'm getting one for my short so I can carry it without losing the *** thing.
#9
Yep. The difference in the bend is noticeable. Especially when you try to install the new one. The old one came out really easily. The new one *** near broke a good pair of pliers trying to get it in.
#10
FYI that bad round was tried several times in the Sidewinder and then several times in a S&W 351PD which has never failed to fire in the first 500 rounds I've fired through it. A mix of MiniMags and Gold Dots.
#11
Well it seems the spring was only part of the problem. My failure rate before the spring replacement was almost 20%. Now its about 5% which is still too high.
I'm using Gold Dot ammo and everything else feeds it 100%.
Except for this one round. After 1000s of rounds of Gold Dot this is the first dud I had.
#12
I think I've found the problem. Old spring vs new spring. I'm off to the range.
#13
I'm getting the "gotta collect them all" disease too. Seriously considering getting a black widow as my next purchase. I like the big sights although I'm not sure I really need them as I can hit things pretty easily just by using the top of the barrel as my sight.
#14
Thanks for all the replies and encouragement. I'm going to give this a shot as it looks like I can do everything just by taking off the grips. If it doesn't work I'm only out $3 for the spring. Actually $6 because I ordered two. Seems like a good idea to keep an extra around since I shoot mine so much.
I like the reactions I get at the range when I hit the 25yd gong with the little thing. I've probably sold a few when people see the accuracy these are capable of.
#15
I just bought a shorty and I was wondering what I could do so I don't lose the little thing. This may be an option. 😂

A possible solution to this problem would be to buy one of the kydex necklace holsters that are available. Get one that covers the hammer spur and comes with parachord.
You could cut use the parachord to anchor the holster to the inside of the purse or the purse strap so that it would come free of the gun when drawn. Since it's just parachord you can alter the length to what best suits your wives purpose.
I have this one. https://www.gooutdoorgear.com/ps-products-homeland-holsters-naa-mini-revolver-undercover-neck-holster-hlm037uc/797053001541/
I weighed it and it only weighs one ounce. It will not work on a mini that has blast shields, like a Sidewinder, or the longer Thingmeister grips that come up to the cylinder.

Thanks for all the responses. Next day off I'll look around on YouTube and see if I can find a video. As long as I don't have to take the side plate off I'll give it a shot myself.

I like night sights but I can certainly understand why Rick may find them useless. There's almost always some kind of ambient light around that will make it easy enough to see your sights in a self defense situation.
I work in the darkness for a good part of my day and unless I'm in a rural area with no ambient light at all I can almost always see my sights. I have presbyopia so its not easy for me to see the sights on any gun unless they're high contrast.
Probably the best scenario for them is when you're in a dark area but your target is illuminated or silhouetted.

My 2.5" Sidewinder has started to have frequent fail-to-fires. There's a noticeable indent on the rim of the ammo, doesn't look much different than the rims from ammo fired from my Wasp.
If I put those same rounds in my Wasp they'll fire and that gun has been *** near 100% reliable with CCI & Gold Dot ammo.
It wasn't this unreliable new so my questions are, do the springs on theses guns have a unusually limited life and if so can I buy and replace these myself?
This gun does have a lot of rounds through it because its frequently the only gun I can carry so I practice with it often. My situation requires at times I be very discreet.

I bought a holster grip for my 1.5" Wasp and came to the same conclusion that it was a little bigger than I wanted for conceal carry.
Its a cool piece of kit but just not for me. Made the gun almost as big as my LCP really.
It also ended up needing two hands to deploy. I tried just flicking it open like one might a lock blade knife and flung the gun across the room. Some abrasive grip tape would probably solve that.
I also noticed Hogue's name stamped on the inside so that gave me confidence on the quality of the grip.

I have a sidewinder and has been mentioned on this thread speedloaders don't seem to work well with it since the cylinder doesn't swing out far enough.
You can get .22 speed strips though and that's what I use. You can get 10 shot speed strips so you'll have two reloads on one strip.

I never even heard of Altamont before . I searched 30 pages of old threads and found nothing about them here. I can understand the rubber not snagging if your hand surrounds them with the slip on . Probably either one will be better than the birds head for sure.Any other input appreciated.
Altamont supplies grips for a lot of manufacturers. A lot of S&W Performance Center guns wear them.
I've ordered grips from them and I've never been disappointed. You may have to wait sometimes if a product is out of production but they'll contact you and ask if you want a refund or order something else.

I pretty much only pocket carry my minis. I use Sticky Holster's magazine sleeves to hold them in an upright position for easy draw. Since they're so small and single action minis are the only guns I don't worry about having something share a pocket with them.
I have a neck holster, a horizontal one, but the weight of a magnum model eventually gets a bit much on your neck. The parachord that is usually used is too thin and abrasive
I've actually turned the neck holster into a shoulder holster. By itself the gun will slide off your shoulder eventually so I use another piece of parachord tied in a loop through the neck holster's supplied chord and over the opposite shoulder forming an X across my back. Over a t-shirt I forget I have this on.

I can see why Jeremy would call this a fatal flaw since he wasn't the only one having the problem that day. However that doesn't mean everyone will have this problem as evidenced by other posters on this topic.
All of us who've been shooting for awhile should know by now that some shooters and guns don't work well together, that's not necessarily the fault of either its just the way it works out.

But a Beretta 950 BS is single action only.

I like my Tomcat and Bobcat Berettas - they are DA/SA. Very reliable so far!
If I were in the market, I would like a Tomcat in .32 auto,  but I usually buy new, because I don't like buying trouble, and I am not familiar enough to know 'good' from 'almost good'. Too bad they are out of production.
The new Tomcats were available a few months ago and I bought one. Model 3032. It's thicker than the old ones but I like it a lot and carry it often. It feels like a quality weapon and shoots like one. Its the only truly small auto I can fire comfortabley and accurately with my big hands.
This whole thread made think that 25acp would be best in a Guardian. I know they have it in 25NAA and I have to admit I'm tempted to order one of those but there's the whole ammo availability thing that I stress over. I hoard 22tcm now and its readily available compared to 25NAA.

Just what I need. A tiny revolver painted in muted colors. I'd definitely misplace it and not find it for months.

I added Mini-Master grips to my 2.5" Sidewinder. I personally don't think it needs the sights. The bead sight is plenty visible enough for me to shoot it accurately at ten yards. I can see the bead in low light too.
Not that I wouldn't buy a Sidewinder with a better sight it just doesn't seem all that necessary to me.

I have a 2.5" Sidewinder and a 1 5/8" Wasp. The Wasp is always a backup and I carry the Sidewinder when I need to carry something very discreet.
The Sidewinder is slightly quicker to reload but definitely not as fast as a normal double action revolver. The crane isn't long enough to let the cylinder clear the frame completely. Its still faster than a normal NAA revolver and it makes reloading in a stressful situation possible where I don't think other minis are.
The Sidewinder is best reloaded with speed strips. 22mag speed strips I have hold ten rounds so I can carry two complete reloads on one strip however unlikely I'd need that or would have a chance to actually accomplish two reloads under fire with a mini.

Kind of annoyed that I can't get my pics right side up no matter what I do.
Let me help you out with that oddball
Thanks. That looks much better.
Pretty sure most of my problems are caused by me being too lazy to use my computer and relying on the iPad in my lap.

NAA Products / Re: Carrying a .32??
February-07-18 22:02
I'm a fan of the 32 Tomcat. Its a good size for a pocket pistol but some may consider its thickness a downside but I like it. It just feels good in the hand.
One shot with a 32 may not be that effective unless you get a CNS shot but I can unload a magazine into the head of a 1/3 silhouette at 10 yds very quickly, every time, without fail.
Just like the arguments against 22 mags as capable of self defense the arguments against 32s are mostly unfounded in real life.

I actually kind of like the way the stock on that gun looks.
Somebody else made an AR with a more traditional stock on it before but the design required the elimination of the buffer tube I can't remember who. I liked the looks of that one too.

Without question my Double Tap 45 was the most painful handgun I've ever fired. Its bad when it functions normally but I've had it double fire on me and it's the only time I ever dropped a gun in pain. My hand went numb for several minutes.
A friends short barreled 500 S&W was less painful to fire.
#33
I've carried a Dan Wesson 4" barreled .357 IWB when I was younger and ok with being slightly uncomfortable.
The largest I carry now is a tie between my Beretta Storm or Glock 30 which are both about the same size/weight when loaded. Almost always OWB although I do have a Kramer IWB sheepskin holster for the Glock 30 which isn't too bad comfort wise.
Most of the time I carry a 9mm LCR OWB with my Wasp as backup.

Other Guns (Non-NAA) / Re: Ruger LCR?
February-03-18 21:02
I had a 357 and still own a 9mm. I'd choose an LCR over any new S&W because the trigger is better and they don't have the prone-to-malfunction trigger lock on them. It pains me to say that as I've been a long time fan of the j-frame but whoever decided that lock was a good idea should never be allowed to have a say in any gun design ever again.
